July 2013 – on my drive to Isle of Skye, a break in the Scottish highlands.

July 2013.
Loved Scotland to bits and can’t wait to return again and redo this hike – it was so foggy that I chickened out of doing the full 2-3 hour circuit and stuck to a very basic hike up to the old man itself. Which accidentally took me right up to the Old Man of Storr… and let me assure you, it’s every bit as imposing, surreal (and a bit terrifying) from up close as it is from down far.

The tides in Mumbles, Swansea, Wales are massive. Kilometers of exposed and covered rocks and sand. (or is it miles?)
Massive they may be, but they come in very rapidly. By the end of setting up this photograph the waves were threatening to carry my small chair away.
