Curacao, November 2023
A birthday trip with friends and family.

Towards the end of an 18km hike, view back into the crater of Haleakalā.

This chair is so tough to transport that I don’t think it survived this trip – so the photos are a bit unique. New York City, May 2017

Curacao, February 2020. The world closed shortly after this trip.
I don’t love doing this with the chairs, the hand held approach. The intent with this series has always been about contrasting the small chairs to the world – whether it’s the nature, the city or the people. However, the warmth of the sunset and the warmth of the orange chair appealed enough to break my own rule.
Our expedition team was very focused on not bringing on anything on shore that was not absolutely critical (e.g. shoes – OK, miniature chairs – unfortunately not). Therefore this Eames made it all the way to the end of the world, but didn’t set foot on the continent.
